John Gilbert has been involved in the post production of over 20 feature films. His editorial credits include Crush, Via Satelliete (Best Editor Award at the New Zealand Film and Television Awards), Punitive Damage and associate editor on Peter Jackson’s The Frighteners. He also produced the short film Willy Nilly. John Gilbert’s first position in the film industry was with the New Zealand National Film Unit during a break from university. Gilbert never returned to his History and Anthropology degree, but moved on to TVNZ where he worked as an assistant editor, then editor. As a freelancer assistant editor and sound editor Gilbert edited many short films, documentaries, and television dramas including The Lounge Bar, Jean Batten Garbo of the Skies, Street Legal, The Chosen and Coverstory.
